M and I finally made it to Toddler Story time today. There have been many obstacles to us getting there, but I'm so glad today was the day we made.
It's fire prevention week, so what's a better topic than FIRE! We both had so much fun. There were stories, songs, hand motions, fire fighters, fire gear and yes....a FIRETRUCK! Mateo was in heaven, as he is loving trucks and anything with wheels recently.
We heard 1 story, did a few finger plays and songs, listened to a fireman talk about clothing as a fire woman dressed in her gear, and then the kiddos got their own fire hat and were able to explore the fire engine. Mateo was a little unsure of the fire woman in her gear, but he couldn't take his eyes off her! He was amazed...or maybe scared to death! When we went out to see the fire truck, he touched everything, listened as I told him about the fire truck parts, and then got to sit up on the truck. SO MUCH FUN!
I was so proud of him today as we sat in story time. Previously we were in baby lap time where kids are all over the place, and not paying too much attention to Ms. Loren. But today, as he said with toddlers 18-36 months he did awesome sitting and listening to the stories and doing motions (to the best of his ability) to the songs. He loved every minute of the half hour.

Boys and firetrucks. Love at first site.
