Spooktacular

The city has a Halloween party each year called "Spooktacular".  We didn't go last year because our sweet little lion was too small to enjoy most of it.  This year, we braved the ghosts & goblins!  Since it was 81 degrees out, I decided not to dress up our bumblebee.  And yes...he was just about the only one NOT in costume!  Opps....live and learn.  At least he's too young to know better.

Anyways, we had a great time!  COSI was there and we got to feel some "flubber" but M wasn't too excited with it.  I did get the recipe though in hopes that he would like to make it.  But that's a post for another day.  We went to see the "Bug Man" and M was intrigued.  There were millipedes, tarantulas, cockroaches, etc.  There were also some sugar coated crickets you could much on.  I opted out of this and didn't think I would offer it to M either.  The Bug Man was giving away spider rings, which Mateo just loved.

Mateo played a game where he threw a ball in a bucket & won a prize.  What do you think he picked as his prize?  That's right...another spider ring.  Just like his other one :)  And there was a monster mash where he got to show off his dance moves!

The city also provided small pumpkins. So each child got to color their own pumpkin. Mateo colored his pumpkin beautifully, and then decided his face need some color. We'll see how well permanent marker comes off.

 He's always very detail oriented.

Here are 2 sweet little pumpkins!

Mateo had a good time but there were a few things that he was a little unsure of...

blowups & adults dressed up in detailed outfits.  He was not impressed as you can see in his very serious face.  We only had a few tears when a "ghost" came up to him.  It will be fun to see each year how he reacts to all of the goblins.  I will treasure each year he comes to mommy to save him!
