teaching vs. mommyhood

It's one of my favorite times of the year....the beginning of SCHOOL!  I loved it as a child and loved it as a teacher.  New students and supplies, new adventures, seeing friends that I've missed over summer and there are so many more reasons that I love the beginning of the school year.  Now that I'm a full time mommy/homemaker....i miss it.  I miss the excitement of seeing who my students will be, getting new bulletin boards up, seeing co-workers after a summer away, seeing students excitement, etc.  It's been quite the transition going from teacher to mommy...but I think I'm finally there!

It's days like today when we get to have a play date and catch up with friends...

Or when I feel like I can take on different roles like being a leader in Bible study and our Life group.  (and still stay sane because I'm not being a homemaker and full time teacher).  There are many times in a day when Mateo wants to "help" mommy by unloading the dishwasher or helping me fold clothes that I'm so thankful I can take the time and let him "help.  Since things can take double or triple the time, and that's not including the mess that needs picked up after he's done "helping".  Life's not such a rush and we, as a family, are able to sit back and enjoy the life God's provided for us.  So even on days when I'm so sad about leaving Waterville, family, friends, and our life in NW Ohio...I'm so thankful that I've been given the opportunity to stay home with my son and have a more relaxed life with my family.  There will be many years that I can teach other students, but as I'm finding out, not many years when my little man will be little.
