Our sweet boy turns 2 today.
I can't even believe that 2 years have passed since we were blessed with Mateo. He is growing into such a beautiful boy. He's sweet yet spunky, so funny yet so serious. He's a toddler of many sides...and we love them all!
His Loves:
- mommy & daddy
- his paci (as he calls it "das")
- Roary his stuffed lion
- Elmo, Cookie Monster (he just calls Cookies), Oscar (who he calls Osky), & Abby Cadabby
- coloring and "writing" (he called it "Ums" which means M's not sure why other than we always say his name starts with and M when we write it)
- playing with "guys" (the little guys & girls that fit in his toy cars)
- being outside
- cookies, juice
- tickling. When he says tickle it sounds like "giggle, giggle, giggle"
- iPad games & puzzles
- pretending (workbench, being a baby, kitchen play)
- balls
- trucks
- snuggling
- playing with hair, he is always twirling his hair and every time he gets a chance he plays with my hair...so sweet
- dancing & singing (favorite songs: ABC's, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the Bus, some songs from our Christmas program at church, Old MacDonald)
- saying "mine"
- throwing food
- Talks about Olive, and pronounces it (Ah-doh)
Brain Waves:
Each day Mateo's learning new things, and I'm sure I won't remember to write down half of them...but here are some new things Mateo's learning.
- The color Blue
- counting to 2
- his sentences are getting so long...the longest I've heard & understood is "I want more cookies please". But he's consistently using 4 words when he talks.
- He picks up on so many things that we have no idea he's learning! Like when he gets frustrated he says "uuugghhh" (totally gets it from mommy), he picks up on routine remembering things we need to do before we eat and go to bed (praying, snack, etc),
- gross motor skills are greatly improving. he started walking around 13 months and now runs, climbs, jumps & gallops! It's so fascinating looking back at pictures and how much growth occurred in 1 year.
- His imagination is so fun to watch develop! I love when he uses his guys to act out real life (like making his guy go to the bathroom, or feeding his guys & sharing his paci)
- his humor is awesome! I didn't know that two year old could be so full of humor but this little man is funny! The way he walks with a strut and his belly out, when he puts sunglasses on upside down to make you laugh, when he's being naughty and then comes to snuggle so you give in, when he does silly dances....so many sweet things about this silly boy. He definitely has Daddy's personality.
- He also does this thing where he shrugs his shoulders and turns his head when he's excited to show you something new.
- Mateo amazes me with how quickly he figures out how to use things; iPad, puzzles, new toys, etc.
- we are continuously amazed by his curiosity and ability to problem solve.
- has a correct pencil grip!
- does hand motions to Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the Bus, & 5 Little Monkeys

- it's hot ( things can be out of the fridge and he's saying they're hot :)

- please...please...PLEASE! If he doesn't get what he wants after saying please...he keeps saying it louder.

- singing ("EI, EI, O", Old MacDonald: "All Drew Town", Wheels on the Bus)
