Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
So...it's been a while but with the baby's due date creeping up, I figured I'd better get something written about our holidays to prove one day we didn't skip them because mommy's tired! :)
We had another wonderful Christmas and again were overly spoiled and blessed. Mateo was so much fun this year as he was totally into Santa and enjoyed the gifts he was given. He also started understanding the real "reason for the season". It was fun watching him play with his nativity set and to hear his explanation of Christ's birth. So sweet and encouraging to hear he's learning early about the love of Christ. Mateo was also such a help as we decorated the house for Christmas and hearing him ooohh and ahhh over the lights made all of the work worth it.
We did our best to focus on Jesus and his birthday, however, Santa was a hit this year. Our first Santa spotting was at the Bryan Santa Parade after Thanksgiving. Although he spent most of his time recovering from the loud sirens of the firetrucks, he did give Santa a little wave. When we went and saw Santa at the mall, he was excited! He was quick to go up to Santa and give his list: a pink scooter. That's it. It's all he wanted. A few times throughout the season he would mention a bike, however, a pink scooter was his top choice. A simple request, right? I like these kind of wish lists, as I'm sure the upcoming years will get more lengthy and expensive.
Jeremiah, Mateo and I went to the library to have the "Polar Express" experience. It was a fun night full of books, Santa, cookies & cocoa, music, games and crafts.
Some other Holiday Happenings
Music with Ms. Marlene @ the Rec Center was a blast!
Mateo loved the Polar Bear "Lars".
Christmas Eve 2013
Christmas Eve was spent at Grandma Stevens' home. Always a good time, especially when the Steven's come from CT to visit! We had some special visitors this year; Ernie the Elf & Santa himself stopped by for a visit. Poor Daisy wasn't a fan of either, but Mateo sure did enjoy them. Again, the excitement of a toddler is such a beautiful thing. Those sweet babies see the joy in everything! It was such a fun way to start the celebrating.
Christmas Day 2013
Christmas Day we got to wake and open Santa presents and then Mateo opened his presents from mommy and daddy.
Yes, he got his scooter from Santa.
Mateo: "YES! A Scooter! But wait...it's not a pink scooter" :)
Mommy: "I guess Santa must have run out of pink ones buddy"
Thankfully he didn't mind that his scooter was blue and green. We enjoyed watching him open each gift with the same amount of enthusiasm each time. We spent the afternoon lounging and playing with new toys. Then we went to Grandpa Gracia's house and had Christmas. And after that we went to Aunt Liz's house to celebrate some more! Love of love and family time.

New Years Eve
Typically our New Year is spent in Celina with friends, but this year the party came to us. The Stolly and Ireton families loaded up their kiddos and joined the fun in Central Ohio. 5 boys under the age of 5. Enough said. Believe it or not all got along well (most of the time) and all the parents made it up until 12! Love the way we are all able to stay in touch even though we're hours from each other. Not sure there's a better way to ring in the New Year.
Definitely looking forward to what 2014 will bring for our family and yours!
