Well, as of 3 p.m today we are no longer home owners. Quite the birthday gift, huh? Definatly a bittersweet day for myself. The house has been host to a lot of memories and firsts for our family. I hope the new owner enjoys the house and the neighbors as much as we did for five year.
Some memories:
- 1st house (kind of a big deal)
- We got married while living in this house. Which includes memories of bachelor and bachelorette parties there...the same night...which was not planned. :)
- Had my 1st job while living there, which brings back a lot of memories: cutting sentence strips, having students stopping by, riding my bike to school, hearing stories about my house back in the day from co-workers, etc.
- My neighbors: Ones were great friends(from which a flood of memories pour in: (dinners, summer nights, watching their kiddos grow, "TATUM GO NIGHT NIGHT!", sharing driveways, borrowing everything they owned at some point, volleyball, the band T-Willy, so many more), the elderly neighbors who we would talk Tigers and child rearing with and clean their side walks for them, the neighbor who always fixed our cars for a great rate, the neighbor lady who was home all day and would stalk the neighborhood for everyone. We always knew she'd catch someone if they shouldn't have been there, our neighbor who we'd call drug dealer who turned out to be a really nice guy, the neighbors who has so much trash in their backyard that it smelled when you walked by, and finally the sweet lady who shared he love of shih tzus and oohed over my pregnant belly and then Mateo.
- Summers outside
- watching the tennis players at the tennis club in our backyard.
- chasing my dogs at least twice a week because they would escape out the fence.
- Painting our babies room and preparing it for his arrival. Even though he ended up never sleeping in it. And all the the meals hat were provided to is by people when we had M.
- And so many more memories.
Can't wait too see what adventures our next home will bring!
And for those of you curious as to where we are going from here...we aren't sure. I'd love to have our own home again and have more space for our little man to run around. But I've also tried hard to appreciate what I have and be thankful for all this place of luxury offers. We are going to have to do some praying and thinking before we decide what to do next and during that time give thanks for what we have and be thankful that we can move on. (Jeremiah's plan...save save save) :)
So our last weekend in Waterville was sweet and full of friends. It was a perfect way to spend a 29th birthday. Yet again... We are blessed.
