Derby Day

Since the 2014 derby, Mateo has been talking about being in the derby. 

Power wheels derby, that is. 

So, we decided to fix up a car and get him into the derby scene. 

Luckily we got some breaks while getting ready for the derby.  Jeremiah was out of the country, so it laid in my lap to fix up the car. A friend gave us the car. A neighbor helped me rig up a better battery. Dad and Ry helped me figure out how to give the car some traction. And mom and I figured out how to turn a Barbie Jeep, into a Ninja Turtle. Personally, such a fun project!  

Unfortunately, for me mostly, we didn't win most decorative. Unfortunately, for everyone who loves Mateo, his beautiful car lasted 2.2...seconds. Hahaha. Luckily, we had taken his Gator Powerwheel too so he was able to run the whole 7ish minutes. And he LOVED it!  look at the determination in his face!!!

He threw this baby in reverse and back to first gear like a Derby Pro!

Favorite quote of the night..."Mom, I told him 'special delivery' and then I hit him...BAM!"  Such a great night. Just wish Uncle Ryan would have had as much fun!
