Bye Bye Binkie

Mateo loves his pacis.  LOVES!  He would do anything for his paci. Ever since he was a newborn, paci could calm anything. He would barely cry for shots as long as paci was near. He slept good with paci. He took paci everywhere!  Paci drives daddy insane. Funny, because paci kept me sane!  :)  For a long time it has kind of been a crutch for me. Whining, paci. Sad, paci. Tired, paci. The list goes on, and no, paci wasn't for me ( well not too suck on at least). 

Finally, well about six months ago, we decided it was time to limit paci. Only sleeping times. He did great. Way better than I thought. It was probably harder for me to listening to tired whines than it was for him not to have it. 

Recently, on a family trip while Mateo was sleeping with me, I couldn't handle that sucking sound!  Between that and some snoring in the room, I was going crazy inside :). In my head I thought, time to say " bye bye Binkie, Binkie bye bye" (an Elmo tune we used to 'prepare' Mateo)  Ironically, when I had asked Mateo if we could finally get rid of Binkie, he said "sure, in 5 days".  Thanks be to God for making us both on the same page!  

So, in about 3 days, he said he was ready to go and get a Jessie doll. So off we hurried!!!  I didn't want to lose the moment. Mom, dad, Jeremiah, Gabriella, M and I headed for the Disney store. I'm pretty sure that it was harder for my mom and I, thinking of how horrible a few sleepless nights would be. :). Again, he did awesome!  He went up to the cashier, handed over the pacis and done. He was good to go. Oh, and grandma did buy him a Woody too :). Jessie needs a sheriff!  And grandma and papa were so proud. 

I can't believe how wonderfully he's transitioned. Again, mommy has had a harder time!  He's getting too big!  I don't want him to grow up. But I am so proud!!!
